Title
Lyon County, Iowa, June 27, 2014 -- Tom Magnuson, FEMA, looks at a collapsed bridge in Lyon County that was washed out in June 2014. He is part of a joint Preliminary Damage Assessment (PDA) Team which includes FEMA and the State of Iowa accessing damage in the areas affected by flood waters. A joint PDA is used to determine the magnitude and impact of an event's damage. The State uses the results of the PDA to determine if the situation is beyond the combined capabilities of the State and local resources and to verify the need for supplemental Federal assistance.
