Summary edit

Description
English: The Lyth-Easter House, 183 Northland Avenue, Buffalo, New York, May 2020. A beautifully preserved and brightly colored brick-and-stucco delight in a sort of hybrid Second Empire and Queen Anne style (the dormer-pierced mansard roof and segmental arches crowning the windows attest to the former; the tent-roofed octagonal turret on the rear corner of the building indicates the latter), the house dates to c. 1880 and was built as the home of English-born industrialist and inventor John Lyth (1846-1903), owner of the J. Lyth and Sons Tile Company, at the time America's leading manufacturer of ceramic tile and sewer pipe. Later on, from 1956-58, it was home to Luscious "Luke" Easter, then in the twilight of his career as slugger and first baseman for the Buffalo Bisons and also owner of a sausage company.
