Português: máquina da estrada de ferro de Guaíra a Porto Mendes, no sudoeste, a famosa Cia Matte Larangeira. A estrada foi inaugurada em 1917, sem nenhuma ajuda governamental, e tinha 60 km. Dessa forma a estrada não atendia ao público, apenas ao transporte de empregados e cargas de erva-mate e madeiras. Em 1929, por decreto, o governo do Estado determina o uso público na ferrovia. Em 1944 Getulio Vargas encampa a ferrovia e as instalações da Matte Larangeira. Em 1955 ela estava praticamente inoperante.
Deutsch: Lokomotive der Schmalspurbahn von Guaíra nach Porto Mendes im Südwesten, die berühmte Cia Matte Larangeira. Die Strecke wurde 1917 ohne staatliche Unterstützung eingeweiht und war 60 Kilometer lang. Als solche diente sie nicht der Öffentlichkeit, sondern nur dem Transport von Angestellten und Ladungen von Yerba Mate und Holz. 1929 verfügte die Regierung des Bundesstaates, dass die Eisenbahn von der Öffentlichkeit genutzt werden sollte. Im Jahr 1944 übernahm Getulio Vargas die Bahn und die Anlagen von Matte Larangeira. Um 1955 war sie praktisch außer Betrieb.
English: Locomotive of the narrow-gauge railway from Guaíra to Porto Mendes in the south-west, the famous Cia Matte Larangeira. The line was inaugurated in 1917 without state support and was 60 kilometres long. As such, it did not serve the public, but only the transport of employees and loads of yerba mate and wood. In 1929, the state government decreed that the railway should be used by the public. In 1944, Getulio Vargas took over the railway and the facilities from Matte Larangeira. By 1955 it was practically out of service.
