Description
Français : Météorite La Caille, trouvée en 1828 en France. Météorite composée de fer. La météorite de Caille a été trouvée par un berger au 17e siècle. Elle a été utilisée comme enclume, puis comme banc devant l'église du village. En 1829, le Muséum national d'histoire naturelle de Paris offre aux villageois une horloge en échange de la météorite, qui est alors transportée à Paris. La Caille pèse 626 kilos, ce qui fait d'elle actuellement (octobre 2017) la plus grosse météorite trouvée en France. Exposée à l'occasion de l'exposition "Météorites", dans le bâtiment de la grande galerie de l'Evolution, au Muséum national d'histoire naturelle de Paris (18 octobre 2017 - 10 juin 2018).
