Deutsch: Frühester überwölbter Teil des früheren Schützengrabens an seiner Mündung in die Ilm. Der Schützengraben ist ein mittelalterlichen Hochwasserabflussgraben, der den Wilden Graben (Ilm) aufnahm, damit dieser nicht mehr in den Lottenbach und mit diesem durch die Altstadt floss. Ab 1824 wurde der Schützengraben auf Wunsch von Carl August von Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach (Initialien „CA“ im Schlusstein) und nach Plänen von Clemens Wenzeslaus Coudray überwolbt. Der letzte Abschnitt am heutigen Sophienstiftsplatz wurde erst 1880 fertig überwölbt. |
