Description
English: Phuoc Tuy Province, South Vietnam. August 1970. An armoured personnel carrier (APC) sits astride Route Two as part of a cordon around the village of Hoa Long just south of Nui Dat. In the rice paddy in the background, C Company, 8th Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment (8RAR), sort through captured weapons and equipment taken from the bodies of seventeen Viet Cong killed in an ambush early on the morning of 12 August 1970. The armed enemy re-supply party entered the village late the night before after moving from a hideout in the Nui Dinh Hills (in the background). The driver of the APC is Trooper Russell Brady of Wavell Heights, Qld, and the commander is Warrant Officer Class 2 A. G. Hudson of Wangaratta, Vic, whose unit killed another enemy and took five prisoners of war (POWs) from the same enemy group.
