English: The Office of Naval Research's new Fire Control Unit 60 mm Mortar sight uses a red dot for aiming during the day and has laser capabilities for improved night fire accuracy, according to Navy officials. Testing of the sight has been so successful thus far, six have been requested and are on their way to Marine units in Afghanistan. The 60 mm Mortar has been a Marine Corps staple since World War II when they were integral to victory in the Pacific. |
