English: Animation of a melt inclusion viewed in transmitted light. The visible flicker occurs when an infrared filter is removed from the light source, allowing CO2 in the fluid bubble to warm so that the fluid (liquid + vapor CO2) homogenizes to the liquid phase. The melt inclusion is hosted by forsteritic olivine and mostly contains a basaltic glass. |
