Summary
editDescriptionMN-I35-SW-pier.jpg |
English: I-35W Mississippi River bridge, South-West pier.
I took it in 1996 while visiting Minneapolis. It is a picture of the South West pier of the I35W bridge which collapsed on August 1, 2007. I was impressed by the mechanism allowing the bridge to shift back and forth on enormous gears, like a huge carriage floating on a rack and pinion-like system. This picture shows much less rust then the following picture which someone took 9 years later (2005): https://www.flickr.com/photos/80651083@N00/984752381/in/pool-35w-bridge-disaster |
