Summary edit

Description

On New Year's Eve 1862, the U.S. Navy's first ironclad warship sank in a storm of the coast of North Carolina. Its resting place became our first national marine sanctuary, Monitor National Marine Sanctuary. Thanks to abnormally good visibility during a recent dive expedition to the wreck site, we now have some of the best images we've ever had of the USS Monitor -- and with these images we're creating accurate 3D models of the Monitor.
