Description
  • Italiano: Lato frontale del cosiddetto "Altare di Marte e Venere", ara romana di epoca traianea (98-117 d.C.), riutilizzata in epoca adrianea (117-132 d.C.) come base per una statua del dio Silvano. Proviene da un sacello del Piazzale delle Corporazioni, ad Ostia Antica, ed è oggi esibito nel Museo di Palazzo Massimo alle Terme a Roma. Il rilievo rappresenta le sacre nozze di Marte e Venere. L'iscrizione sul plinto registra la dedica dell'altare nell'anno 124 d.C. a Silvano e altri dèi da parte di Publius Aelius Syneros, liberto di Publius Aelius Trophimus, procuratore della Provincia di Creta.
