I følge Aftenposten 3. 11. 1954 ble skipet sjøsatt tirsdag 2. november 1954 av gudmor «fru avdelingsdirektør Fasmer Møller»: «Det var så smått begynt å regne da fru Ruth Fasmer Møller igår kl. 12 fikk champagnen til å sprute ved å knuse den tradisjonelle flaske mot Akers mek. verksteds siste nybygning, som hun gav navnet «Hørda». klokka 12 da fru Ruth Fasmer Møller (fru avdelingssjef Fasmer Møller) døpte skipet. Straks efter blåste direktør C. N. R. Aamundsen tre ganger i sin velbrukte fløyte, og skipet gled prikkfritt og flott ut i sitt rette element, fulgt av de tilstedeværendes noe spede hurrarop. Den litt slappe stemning må nok tilskrives været, som forøvrig minnet om sjøsettingen av søsterskipet «Sunda» i mars iår.»
