Description
Deutsch: M 113 G oder M 113 A1 G (MTW*), 2./351L (2. Kompanie/Panzergrenadier(Lehr)Bataillon 351, PzGrenBrig 35), angehoben von einem Bergepanzer 2 (Fahrgestell des Leopard 1) in Hammelburg, ca. 1972/73. Der MTW M 113 war auch bei den Pz-, PzGren- und PzArt-Bataillonen der PzBrig 36 in großer Zahl und in verschiedensten Rüstständen im Einsatz. *MTW: -
  • MTW (Mannschaftstransportwagen) M 113 – Ursprungsausführung (US) Bj. 1962-1964 mit 8-Zylinder Chrysler Vergasermotor A710B, 5.920 ccm, 209 PS. (US)-Fz mit Weißlicht- & IR-Scheinwerfern, ohne Kettenschürzen und Nebelmittelwurfanlage. -
  • Ab 1962/63 u. a. im PzBtl 273, Böblingen eingeführt, danach Teilung und Umbenennung in PzBtl 363 und 364, und ab Juli 1964 in Külsheim (Main-Tauber-Kreis, Baden-Württemberg) stationiert. Die Bundeswehr hat ab 1962/63 insgesamt 1.132 MTW M 113 in der US-Originalausführung angeschafft (in Summe bis 1985 über 4.000 M 113 mit verschiedensten, nachträglich eingebauten Rüstsätzen). Nach dem Einbau anderer (deutscher) Beleuchtung nach StVO, Funkausrüstung, Optik, Bewaffnung, Diehl-Gleisketten, Nebelmittelwurfanlage und Beschriftungen wurde die Bezeichnung M 113 um ein „G“ erweitert: M 113 G . -
  • Die ab 1965 zulaufenden M 113 A1 hatten ab Werk einen Detroit Diesel Motor Typ 6V53, 6 Zylinder, 5.220 ccm und 210 PS, und trugen nach der o. g. Umrüstung die Bezeichnung M 113 A1 G. Die Umrüstung aller bis dahin vorhandenen M 113 (ca. 3.400 Fz) auf den o. g. Detroit Diesel Motor erfolgte ab 1975. Im Heer der Bundeswehr lautete die Basis-Bezeichnung fortan: Mannschaftstransportwagen MTW M 113 A1 G - im Sprachgebrauch der Truppe oftmals auch zusammengeschrieben: M113A1G, und vereinfachend angesprochen als „MTW“ oder „M113“.
