Description
English: M60 Machine Gun which at the time was the only Standard A, 7.62mm, machine gun in the Army inventory. It is made in three models, M60, M60C, and M60D. The M60 is used primarily as a ground weapon by dismounted infantry units at the rifle platoon level, and is also mounted and fired from ground vehicles. Additionally, it is used by artillery, armor and other combat support and combat service support units. The M60C is used on Army helicopters and is fired remotely. The M60D is also used on Army helicopters but is fired by assigned door gunners. All three models have essentially the same operating characteristics, firing 550 rounds per minute at an effective range of 1100 meters
