Description
English: Madhaveshwar Lingam temple was erected in 1757 CE, by Madhav Chaudhuri, a descendant of Dutta Chaudhuri clan of Andul. So the deity came to know as- MADHAVESHWARA. The deity was earlier known by the name of 'Phool-Baganeshwar', as the area around where the temple is situated, was once a flower garden of the said family. The temple has a long history. It is said that extended yoni (the female part) of this lingam is very deeply seated, for which it was inalienable and thus had been kept protected from the lootings of Bargi group, during the years 1741-1751 CE.
