O Chafariz das Marrecas, obra do Mestre Valentim, o maior arquiteto e escultor carioca da segunda metade do século XVIII, foi edificado pelo governador D. Luiz de Vasconcellos. Localizava-se junto ao morro de Santo Antônio, a rua dos Barbonos, atual Evaristo da Veiga. (Jardim Botânico do Rio de Janeiro)
