The Mystery of the Cicada Evil Eye. (This title reminds me of one of the endless mystery books I took out of the library during the summer when I was tweening, do such things still exist?) Don't take our word for it, but look at any online image of Magicicadas (maybe all Cicadas? ...unclear, please investigate). What do you notice? The cicada is always looking at you. Yes, there is always a black eye dot look directly at you, no matter what angle the camera is in, even recently dead cicadas are still looking at you this way. It is unclear what is really going on here (so of course we will make something up) but the most likely explanation has got to be supernatural. (Thank you Daniel Yuan (Lab Volunteer and pixel whisperer) for noticing this, I was clearly too under the evil eye spell to see what was so obvious). Side note. This is the larger of the 3 local Magicadas and most common, Magicicada septendecim. Anders Croft once again took the picture. 21:19, 25 June 2021 (UTC)21:19, 25 June 2021 (UTC){{{{{{0}}}}}}21:19, 25 June 2021 (UTC)21:19, 25 June 2021 (UTC) All photographs are public domain, feel free to download and use as you wish.
We Are Made One with What We Touch and See We are resolved into the supreme air, We are made one with what we touch and see, With our heart's blood each crimson sun is fair, With our young lives each spring impassioned tree Flames into green, the wildest beasts that range The moor our kinsmen are, all life is one, and all is change. - Oscar Wilde
