Summary edit

Description
English: Jotunheimen National Park is a high mountain area in the counties Oppland and Sogn og Fjordane. Located on the transition between eastern and western mountain environment centrally located in the Caledonian mountain range. Mountain massif with peaks and glaciers. Norway's highest mountain, Galdhøpiggen (2469 m.o.h.), is located within the park. The area has many lakes.

Several mountain plants have their limit here. Much wildlife in West Jotunheimen, tamrein in Lom and Vågå. Several old fishing grazing systems. Jotunheimen has some of the most typical wild and alpine rock formations in Norway. Sheltered, low-lying valleys, distinctive streams, a wide range of glaciers and the highest mountains in Northern Europe.

There are viticultural conservation interests including geology, limnology, botany and zoology. Parts of Jotunheimen are of great value as grazing areas for tamrein and cattles. Large mountain massifs and pointed peaks are what characterize Jotunheimen. It is argued that Jotunheimen is the most mountainous landscape in Norway. All mountain peaks in the country that are over 2300 meters, a total of 23, are in the national park. The highest 5 are the Galdhøpiggen (2469 m.o.h.), Glittertind (2465 m.o.h.), Great Skagastølstind (2403 m.o.h.), Great Styggedalstind (2387 m.o.h.) and Skarstind (2373 m above sea level). The largest glacier in Jotunheimen is Smørstabbreen (about 15 km2). Then there are Vestre Memurububre (about 13 km2), Hellstugubreen (about 12 km2) and Veobreen (about 11 km2).
