Summary edit

Description My friend Bob Glavin and I were lucky enough to be at Venice Rookery when this Great Blue Heron fledged. It flew 20 yards from the island to the bank where the photographers stand just as a busload of school children arrived. It walked along the bank and then after about 15 minutes flew back to the island for a shaky landing.
