Français : RAPATRIEMENTS DE 1941 :

Après la signature de l'Armistice, la raison de la présence des Travailleurs coloniaux sur le territoire métropolitain disparait avec l'arrêt des productions de guerre. En vue de leur retour, les Travailleurs Indochinois furent regroupés dans la zone sud où la plupart d'entre eux se trouvèrent au chômage. Un plan de rapatriement fut adopté en vertu duquel les compagnies seraient renvoyées en Indochine dans le même ordre que celui de leur arrivée. Les premiers départs eurent lieu en janvier 1941 par la route Marseille-Dakar-Diego Suarez-Sài-Gòn et se firent lentement car l'envoi de militaires métropolitains pour protéger l'Indochine, contre les visées siamoises en particulier, et le rapatriement des militaires tirailleurs indochinois et malgaches était prioritaire. En treize bateaux, 4 434 travailleurs seulement purent être embarqués (à titre de comparaison, quinze navires avaient suffi pour acheminer 19 362 hommes lors du voyage aller).

5 DÉCEMBRE 1941 : L’Eridan, dernier bateau à rapatrier des travailleurs indochinois, est dérouté vers Oran (Algérie). Il reste encore 14 200 Indochinois en Métropole.

11 NOVEMBRE 1942 : Occupation de la « Zone non-occupée » par les Allemands. En manque de main d’oeuvre, les Allemands deviennent eux aussi des "clients" de la M.O.I., qu’ils payent en échange des travailleurs indochinois. Certaines poudreries redémarrent, sous contrôle allemand.

9 FÉVRIER 1944 :

Les travailleurs indochinois dépendant de la M.O.I. bénéficient à nouveau de la franchise militaire (qui avait été supprimée en décembre 1943).
