Description : Il s'agit de l'une des premières demeures bourgeoises du « Mille carré doré » à être revêtue de pierre importée, du grès rouge d'Écosse. La pierre importée rouge, beige ou brune a grandement contribué à la mode de la polychromie, présente à Montréal entre 1885 et 1900. Cette mode consistait à marier des matériaux de différentes couleurs sur un même bâtiment. De plus, le grès accentuait le caractère pittoresque que l'on voulait donner aux immeubles et permettait de développer une ornementation élaborée sur les parois extérieures des bâtiments.
