English: Manchester Victoria station approach 1979. Viewed from the junction of Long Millgate, Manchester Victoria's 1904-built facade was undergoing cleaning in 1979, to remove the accumulated soot of Lancashire's industrial heyday. In 1979, passengers could be picked up or dropped down freely and cars could easily access the station and even park there cheaply, encouraging use of the train for longer journeys. A SELNEC-liveried bus turns the corner into Hunts Bank in the distance. |
