| Object history | Este óleo fue donado por Agustín Cannobio al Museo Histórico Nacional (MHN) en 1951; había sido comprado como un Monvoisin; fue citado como obra de ese maestro francés perteneciente a la colección del citado museo en la monografía Monvoisin del Instituto de Extensión de Artes Plásticas de la Universidad de Chile. En 1964, el cuadro fue trasladado al Museo O'Higginiano y de Bellas Artes de Talca, donde se exhibió erróneamente con el título de Retrato al óleo de Monvoisin del general Guevara Guevara, militar talquino. En 1984, la obra fue recuperada por el MHN, volviendo a su exhibición permanente; ese mismo año comenzó su restauración, que se extendió por 2 años (consolidación, reentelado, limpieza, reintegración y barniz). Durante la restauración realizada por Cecilia Valdés, se le hizo un examen con rayos ultravioleta, que evidenciaron retoques sobre la firma (R.Q.Monvoisin) y después de retirar la capa pictórica no original, se comprobó que la firma correspondería a F.J.Mandiola. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
