Description
Deutsch: Lindau am Bodensee: Der Mangenturm – so die Inschrift neben der Tür – oder Mangturm gehört zu den älteren Leuchttürmen am See. Der fünfstöckige Turm (ohne Dachgeschosse) hat einen quadratischen Querschnitt und ein vorkragendes Obergeschoss und misst 20 Meter in der Höhe. Von 1180 bis 1300 war er in Betrieb, gleichzeitig ist er Endpunkt der Stadtmauer sowie Ausgangspunkt des Mauerzuges, der den um 1370/80 nach Auffüllung der alten Lände erbauten Diebsturm einbezog und bis zu dem im Fundamentbereich erhaltenen nordwestlichen Eckturm (Looserturm) verlief. Der Name leitet sich vom ehemals nahen Tuch- und Manghaus ab, weswegen er oft auch Mangturm genannt wird.
