Summary edit

Description
English: Island of Kauai, Ursula Emerson, 1833. The only complete survey of Kauai prior to the compilation of this map was that undertaken during the voyage of George Vancouver in 1792–94. This map presents a vastly superior rendering of Kauai than does the one compiled under Vancouverʻs direction. The map which Mrs. Emerson copied was apparently made at the request of the missionaries by a man named J. Denison.
