Description
English: In 1597, Hernando de los Rios Coronel used this map of the Northern Philipinees and Taiwan to show the ease and importance of establishing a colony on Formosa. His preferred place of colonization was Keelung, in the north, which is given exaggerated presence on this map (the large bay in northern Taiwan). Used with permission of the Archivo General de Indias, Seville, Spain (finding aid: MP Filipinas 216).
