Summary edit

Description
English: Earthenware pot, Maragogipinho, Aratuípe, Bahia, Brazil. "Ceramics from Maragogipinho constitute an enormous cultural heritage not only because of the impressive number of approximately 150 active kilns and pottery factories, but also because they are an integral part of the history of over two hundred years of uninterrupted work dedicated to this time-honored artisanal workmanship. [...] The strong expression of the region's ceramics is traditionally found in the so-called "earthenware" and decorative objects. Unlike other ceramist communities in the state, its main form of modeling is developed in artisanal lathes, giving rise to pots, cellars, quartz, carvings, jugs, pots, pans and so on."--SIMÕES, Iaçanã Costa. A cerâmica tradicional de Maragogipinho. Dissertation (M.A.)
