Description
Margaret Holliday (d. 1672), a daughter and coheiress of w:William Holliday, an Alderman of the City of London, and wife of Sir Edward Hungerford (1596–1648) of Corsham, Wiltshire and of Farleigh Castle in Wiltshire (now Somerset). Arms of Hungerford impaling Holliday. Arms granted in 1605 to his cousin w:Leonard Holliday Lord Mayor of London in 1605[1]: Sable, three close helmets argent garnished or within a bordure engrailed of the second (Guillim, Display of Heraldry[2]). The arms shown here seem to show a bordure argent, not or, and not engrailed, perhaps a heraldic difference.
