Description

English: Passage of H. H. H. Prince Napoleon on the Place de San Carlo, on his arrival in Turin, according to sketches by Mr. Riou.

-station at three o'clock. The convoy entered the Turin station at three o'clock. The convoy entered Turin station at three o’clock.

Prince Napoleon found HRH the Prince of Carignan there, with whom he boarded one of the court carriages amidst the cheers of the crowd. These cheers continued throughout his passage. My drawing was made at the moment when the procession crosses the Place de Saint-Charles, the Piazzua San-Carlo of our French people who have the pleasure of chirping Nothing less than a double line of Sardinian hunters in such picturesque costume was necessary to reserve the way for the royal crews, so eager and compact was the crowd. I learned what an Italian mob is. My sketch will tell you something. What hooks! Excuse, as the Italian dramatic poets say, the author's faults.ED RIOU
