Cette galerie est une des curiosités de Turin; on connaît la réputation dont les fabriques d'armures italiennes ont joui au moyen âge et jusques après la Renaissance. A l'excellence de la trempe des aciers, qui permettait d'unir dans leurs confections la force et la légèreté, s'était jointe la perfection des ciselures, et l'on connaît la réputation des joailliers lombards et florentins au siècle de Bervenuto Cellini. Questa galleria è una delle curiosità di Torino; conosciamo la reputazione di cui godevano le fabbriche di armature italiane nel Medioevo e fino a dopo il Rinascimento. The following is an extract from a letter sent by Edouard Riou. -I have sent you a drawing of the visit to the palace's armory made by Prince Napoleon, accompanied by the king and a few officers in city costume. This gallery is one of the curiosities of Turin; we know the reputation that Italian armor factories enjoyed in the Middle Ages and until after the Renaissance. The excellence of the tempering of the steels, which made it possible to unite strength and lightness in their creations, was joined by the perfection of the carvings, and we know the reputation of the Lombard and Florentine jewelers in the century of Bervenuto Cellini.ED RIOU
