Notes La composition, peinte à Londres, où madame de Bréhan avait émigré en 1792, s'inspire du grand portrait de Marie-Antoinette en robe bleue peint par madame Vigée-Lebrun en 1788 (Versailles, MV2097). L'œuvre a été gravée, à la manière noire, par John Murphy (1748-après 1800) ; la gravure est datée de 1795.
