Description
English: Photo taken at the Royal Norwegian Navy Museum (Norwegian: Marinemuseet) in Horten:
  • Naval officer's uniform of the Royal Norwegian Navy (Norwegian: Den Kongelige Norske Marine) from the early 20th century, consisting of a peaked cap with the emblem of a crowned and wreathed anchor symbol as an embroidered cap badge, and a single-breasted coat with a large, round fall-down collar and golden sleeve stripes as arm rank insignia of a Commander (Norwegian: kommandørkaptein).
etc.

Marinemuseet is one of the world's oldest naval museums. The navy museum was founded in 1853 and has been in the old magazine on Karljohansvern since 1864. The "old department" is somewhat retained, but the museum has later grown to more than 2.000 sqm, rich in information and close proximity to the many models and objects.
