Summary edit

Description

White birches (Betula papyrifera) and scattered other trees, Elk County, within the Marion Brooks Natural Area of Moshannon State Forest.

The natural area is noted for its fine stand of white birches. The trees, now about a century old, arose on fire-scorched, nutrient-depleted soil after the virgin forest at the site was logged off.
