Description
Français : Spectacle de marionnettes sur l'eau
English: The most representative art of Hanoi and its region is the water puppet show. Born in the 12th century, this rural theater invokes rain, beneficial for rice growing. The scene is a body of water behind which is the showmen's room. It is from here that the puppeteers, half immersed in water and hidden behind a bamboo curtain, manipulate the actors into dolls using a mechanism made of poles, rods, sheaths and hinges. [1]
