Summary edit

Description
English: Marsh Wall Apparently, as I've been told today by some bloke in the pub, that this wall known as 'Marsh Wall' was built to prevent the sea (from the left) from encroaching too far to the right - as there was a fear at some point that the Southdown peninsula was at risk of breaking away from the mainland given the short distance between the head of the inlet (to the right of this wall) and the head of Millbrook lake. Whatever the truth, this wall has been breached at some point and beyond it remains mudflats as ever. Apparently there was talk of building some sort of oil terminal here but the Admiralty opposed it thank the Gracious Lord Almighty. More information to follow as locals allow. As my great great great grandmother wasn't born within a square inch of any area in question, information is hard to come by here.
