Summary

edit
Description This church is well-hidden off the beaten path at the corner of Horton Street and Saffin Avenue in Cincinnati’s South Fairmount neighborhood. Constructed in 1890, the Gothic Revival-style structure replaced an earlier structure and housed a German-speaking congregation that had formed in 1851. The old Westwood Railroad line once ran just to the north (right) of the church, and separated it from the cemetery just up the street. Today, I’m uncertain as to what the church is used for, but it appears occupied, and is the most historically significant church structure remaining in South Fairmount, following the demolition of the 1868 St. Bonaventura Catholic Parish Church on Queen City Avenue in 2004-05. This church is not protected by any historical designation, despite its historical value, and remains at risk of possible future development pressure or demolition by neglect.
