Object history Provenance: The estate of Martinus Rørbye's widow Rose Frederikke Schiøtt 1810–1859, auctioned in 1860, no. 3. Bought there by "rodemester (local official)" Lund.
Owned by the merchant E. le Maire in 1909.
Arne Bruun Rasmussen auction 86, 1957 no. 133, depicted page 86, sold for DKK 7,100. The family of the buyer owned the painting until the 2018 auction.
Sold at Bruun Rasmussen Auctions on November 27, 2018 for DKK 3,000,000 (EUR 400,000) (Lot 883/139). Bought by Statens Museum for Kunst, Copenhagen.
