English: Marylebone: Chandos Street, W1 This stucco building is Lettsom House in Chandos Street, named after Dr John Coakley Lettsom, a Quaker physician who founded the Medical Society of London in 1773 and who was its mainstay until his death in 1815. The Society is the oldest surviving body of its type in England. The Society moved into these premises in 1872, and its ownership is proclaimed by the text above the first floor windows. |
