Description
Español: Planchas de acero corten indicando el lugar donde se encontraban dos de las fosas comunes en las que fueron inhumados los cadáveres de parte de los represaliados durante la guerra civil española en el antiguo cementerio de San Rafael, hoy parque de la Memoria, Málaga, España. En la plancha en primer plano, se lee: «Fosa nº 5 / 3 niveles / 203 cuerpos». En la plancha en segundo plano, se lee: «Fosa nº 4 / 7 niveles / 278 cuerpos».[1] Al fondo de la imagen, el monumento conmemorativo dedicado a los caídos en la guerra de Melilla durante las campañas de 1911, 1919 o 1922.[2] La parte superior tiene un cuerpo poligonal rematado por una sencilla cruz. En la base, luce una plancha de acero corten con la siguiente inscripción: «Panteón de / militares fallecidos». Originalmente, el monolito con la cruz era el elemento central de un mausoleo rodeado de balaustres de piedra unidos por cadenas. En las paredes del monolito aparecían una serie de lápidas de mármol inscritas con diferentes fechas: 1911, 1919, 1922, etc., y con los nombres de aquellos que posiblemente fallecieran en las diferentes campañas de Marruecos y fueron allí enterrados (Saruel Hernández, F.
