Description De Noorse trompettist Mathias Eick speelde mee met het Trondheim Jazz Orchestra (waarmee hij onder meer Pat Metheny en Chick Corea begeleidde) en maakte tot voor kort deel uit van de experimentele elektronica jazzband Jaga Jazzist. Maar bovenal brengt Eick al tien jaar succesvol albums uit op ECM Records. Eerder dit jaar verscheen het nieuwe werk Ravensburg. Waar zijn vorige album Midwest (2015) juist in het teken stond van heimwee, geïnspireerd door een lange tour in Amerika, staat Ravensburg juist in het teken van thuiskomen. Dat geeft het album weer een typische, warme sfeer die je van Eick gewend bent. “De hoge kwaliteit van de composities en de erg fijne groep muzikanten die met innemende warmbloedigheid spelen, geven het thema van het album een ideale meerwaarde.” aldus Written in Music.
