English: The Matka canyon is also a true oasis with various and well preserved autochthonous fauna , a great number of relic and endemic species, as well as typical examples of newly discovered animal species can be found there, the most fascinating is the exclusively great number of various kinds of butterfly species, 84 of which can be found there and nowhere else on the Balkans.
