Matra-Bonnet (aka Matra-Sports) Djet VS, built in 1966 in France, unmodified original example

Summary edit

Description
English: This Matra-Bonnet Djet VS is a French sports car manufactured in Romorantin (France). It is powered by Renault-Gordini engine, derived from the one used at the 24 Heures du Mans 1962 by the racing René-Bonnet Djet. A road-legal version of the Djet was simultaneously presented by René-Bonnet, as the very first mid-engine road car in History. Production started in 1963, and after the firm went bankrupt, and was bought by Matra (aerospace), it was continued by Matra-Bonnet, which eventually became Matra-Sports. Matra claimed a top speed of 200 km/h (125 mph) thanks to its lightweight (600 kg) and to its fibreglass aerodynamic bodywork. 355 example have been built between 1965 and 1967.
