greja Matriz do Santíssimo Sacramento de Santo Antônio é um dos templos mais bonitos do Recife. Possui um estilo barroco colonial, teve a sua construção iniciada em 1753 e concluída em 1790, e foi dedicada a Santo Antônio. A igreja está localizada em volta da Praça da Independência, no bairro de Santo Antônio.

No local onde o templo foi construído existiam, anteriormente, as trincheiras dos invasores holandeses e a conhecida Casa de Pólvora. Daí, no ano de 1752, a Irmandade do Santíssimo Sacramento da Matriz do Corpo decidiu adquirir o terreno e construir uma igreja medindo 100 palmos de comprimento por 50 de largura.
English: Igreja Matriz do Santíssimo Sacramento de Santo Antônio is one of the most beautiful temples in Recife. It has a colonial baroque style, its construction began in 1753 and completed in 1790, and was dedicated to Saint Anthony. The church is located around Praça da Independência, in the Santo Antônio neighborhood. In the place where the temple was built, there used to be the trenches of the Dutch invaders and the well-known Powder House. Then, in 1752, the Irmandade do Santíssimo Sacramento da Matriz do Corpo decided to acquire the land and build a church measuring 100 palms in length by 50 in width.
