Deutsch: "Das Porträt von Maximilian Philipp, Herzog von Bayern, Pfalzgraf bei Rhein sowie Landgraf in Leutenberg, war früher dem Augsburger Maler Johann Ulrich Mayr zugeschrieben. Laut Rechnungsdokumenten, die Sebastiano Bombelli 1666 vom Bayerischen Hof erhielt, und anhand von Reproduktionsgraphiken lässt sich feststellen, dass das Bild auf den venezianischen Künstler zurückgeht. Im Dresdener Inventar 1722/28 wurde es als 'Kopie' eingestuft. Damit könnte gemeint sein, dass es als Replik in der Werkstatt des Künstlers entstand."
