Description

SOURCE INFO - The original image is one of a series of real photo cards purchased by my late father-in-law Driver Tom Beazley, of the Australian Army 1/2 Movement Control Group, Middle East Headquarters (Cairo), 2nd Australian Imperial Force, whilst on leave in Ismailia, Egypt.

IMAGE INFO - The "Sweetwater Canal" is also known as the "Ismailia Canal" & it links Ismailia to Cairo. - Viewpoint is looking north-west from the left verge of what is now known as El-Shaheed Abd El-Moneim Riad road, across the bend in the Sweetwater Canal towards Mohamed Ali Quay road (this road is now known as "Salah Salem"). - An Arab gardener can be seen just to the right of the bend in the canal, watering some shrubs beside the pedestrian pathway.

RESTORATION INFO - Digitized using a Canon Canoscan 8800F scanner.

- Restored from the very badly scratched & faded original photo print, using Adobe Photoshop Creative Suite 8.0 (duotone version).
