Monument to Sir Henry Maynard (d.1610) in the Church of St Mary the Virgin at Little Easton, Essex
Canting arms of Maynard (French main = "hand") of Little Easton, Essex: Argent, a chevron azure between three sinister hands couped at the wrist gules. Maynard Baronets, Baron Maynard, Viscount Maynard. Descended from Maynard of Sherford in the parish of Brixton, Devon (as is stated on monument to Sir Henry Maynard (d.1610) in the Bourchier-Maynard South Chapel of the Church of St Mary the Virgin at Little Easton, Essex), which family bore arms: Argent, three sinister hands couped at the wrist gules (Vivian, Lt.Col. J.L., (Ed.) The Visitations of the County of Devon: Comprising the Heralds' Visitations of 1531, 1564 & 1620, Exeter, 1895, p.561); Sherford located in parish of Brixton per Risdon, Tristram, Survey of Devon, 1811 edition, London, 1811, with 1810 Additions, p.392.
