During the early morning hours of August 6, 2011, well before the morning rush begins, both I-93 and Riverside Avenue were open to traffic after another successful, ahead-of-schedule bridge replacement. This photo illustrates the rapid nature of the work being performed during a typical weekend in Medford on the 93 Fast 14 project. On Friday night, the bridge demolition begins. Twelve hours later, the new bridge, made of prefabricated units, is being erected. Twenty four hours later, concrete is in place and curing. By Monday morning, the bridge and all area roads are open for use. To date, all the bridges in the 93 Fast 14 have been demolished and replaced ahead of schedule, making the ‘most ambitious bridge replacement project in the country’ one of the most successful. The final bridge is scheduled to be replaced between August 12 and August 15. This project is a wonderful example of how the Patrick-Murray Administration’s Accelerated Bridge Program is doing business differently by pioneering the use of innovative construction methods in Massachusetts— all with the goal of providing the best possible customer service to the people of the Commonwealth. |

Definition of "public record"
Public records are defined in A Guide to the Massachusetts Public Records Law, Published by William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Division of Public Records, (Updated January 2017) at https://www.mass.gov/files/2017-06/Public%20Records%20Law.pdf on page 40, under M. Limitations of template usage
This is consistent with the statement at http://www.sec.state.ma.us/ARC/arcres/residx.htm:
Note: Works that are considered "public records" but were not created by a state or municipal government agency may be copyrighted by their author; the Supremacy Clause of the United States Constitution prevents state law from overriding the author's right to copyright protection that is granted by federal law. For example, a state agency may post images online of the final appearance of a building under construction; while the images may be "public records", their creator (eg. architecture/construction firm) retains copyright rights to the image unless the contract with the agency says otherwise. See: Government-in-the-Sunshine Manual: To what extent does federal law preempt state law regarding public inspection of records?. |
