Summary edit

Description
English: Mediaeval "Domesday" painting on the chancel arch (2). There are traces of mediaeval painting on the beam over the chancel arch - see 912737. On this (left hand) side are spires and minarets. On the right hand side 912742 is the figure of a woman riding a panther-like beast, seated back to front, and grasping the tail firmly with one hand and waving a tankard in the other. The spires represented Heaven, while the female figure was Gluttony, one of the Seven Deadly Sins, leading people to everlasting punishment. {Source: leaflet in the church.
