| Description | Georgia Army Guard Brig. Gen. Larry Dudney – now director of the Georgia Department of Defense Joint Staff – walks and talks with Afghan army Brig. Gen. Khatool Mohammadzai (left) of the Afghan Ministry of Defense in Kabul. Dudney, who commanded Combined Joint Task Force Phoenix IX and was director of the Afghan National Security Forces Development Assistance Bureau in Kabul from 2009 to 2010, pointed out that Mohammadzai is the only female parachutist – "and probably the only qualified parachutist overall" – in the Afghan military. “She is a great lady and survived several attempts on her life because she was a woman in the Afghan army,” Dudney recalled. With them, but not shown, is Dudney’s interpreter at the time, Abdul Matin. The Soldier on the general’s left is an unidentified U.S. civilian contractor. |
