English: Mellor Mill derelict waterwheel-pit Mellor Mill was a famous large early cotton spinning mill of 1792 by the famous engineer Samuel Oldknow. Totally destroyed by fire in 1890, the massive foundations lie buried under a wood. This view shows the massive sandstone pit for the huge main central waterwheel(1 of 3) which is one of the largest I have ever seen. |
